The Finnish Cosplay Championships Will Take Place at Arctic Lights Comic Con in May 2026

The Finnish Cosplay Championships will be held on 16–17 May 2026 at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre as part of the pop culture celebration, Arctic Lights Comic Con. The winners of Sunday’s competitions will go on to represent Finland on international stages.

Next spring, the Finnish Cosplay Championships will be held for the 11th time. In 2026, Cosvision ry will organize the competition as part of Arctic Lights Comic Con at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre.

This year, the Championships are divided into two parts.

On Sunday, 17 May 2026, the main stage of Arctic Lights Comic Con will host cosplay competitions focusing on craftsmanship and performance. The excitement begins already on Saturday, 16 May 2026, with the search for the Cosplay Photo of the Year.

Cosplayers create their costumes themselves and will have the opportunity to explain the production process, techniques, and materials to an expert cosplay jury on competition day. In performance-based categories, participants also design the presentation, including sound, lighting, and story arc.

Sunday’s cosplay competition will select four winners who will represent Finland on international stages. Finnish participants will compete in the Europa Cosplay Cup in France and the International Cosplay League in Spain.

Participants for the Finnish Cosplay Championships are chosen through an open application process. Competition rules and application guidelines will be published on Cosvision’s website this fall.

In addition to the Championships, Cosvision ry and Arctic Lights Comic Con are collaborating on the event’s cosplay programme and guest lineup. More information about the programme and guests will be announced later.
